So there has been some talk lately about Tourneys.

The Big "Harrowed" World Championship is going to be at GenCon again this year. http://www.boardgamegeek.com/thread/818467/rise-from-your-gr...

The "CSA Championship" is being discussed to take place at BGGCon. http://www.boardgamegeek.com/thread/817419/deadlnads-doomtow...

And OctGon Guru DividedByZero and I are discussing a "Cyber Championship" (to give everyone world wide a chance to participate!) - This is still being figured out, but my though is, with all cards availible it might be useful to limit things a bit - Double-Barreled for the rounds, Bicycle for the finals. Make it a real test of skill! (No link for this yet)

But the question is, is there interest in more, Do we have locations?

Traditionally Big Events were held at GenCon, GenCon UK, GenCon SoCal, and Origins. With an annual Storyline Event at OryCon.

But, things have changed in a decade.

So we have an Event in Indianapolis. An Event in Texas.

I'd be willing to host one in the Northwest. Is there anyone with a venue out east or abroad?

Would people prefer a day event (say at a local shop with a small entry fee) or a convention event (higher price, but a much larger variety of other events, usually spanning a friday- sunday weekend?)

I know personally I have driven to California and Washington for day long events, but I never go to out of area conventions, because the travel cost + convention badge + logging + time lost at work usually equals out to more than one month's rent!

Help us to get this game "Back on the map" give me your preferences and ideas to get more high profile events scheduled!

That makes it sound to me that in normal tournaments some people hope a large number of people will turn up who haven't been able to spend enough cash on the game, so they can get some easy wins even if they're bad players...

I'm not suggesting yourself, or that there is anything wrong with other formats, just the general idea that without the "lots of cash" qualifier on the tournament something else needs to be in effect.

I was just more considering that with every card availible to every player, why wouldn't everyone play MR Chess, Flock Fondue, Reaping, Puppetmaster, Sioux Brawler, or one of the other "Tried and True" decks.

I would rather that every game I play not come down to who drew the power card first. Why not play with 4 Start Agains? Or 4 Demon's Eyes? Or 4 of whatever generally harder to get card will ruin your opponents day?

At Doomtown's height, my league had a few "Mr Suitcase" collections, and it was actually the people with the big collections who chose to make the league double-barreled, so the game was more about skill and luck than money. It also cut down on exploitative decks. Reaping is a lot less efficient without 4 of all it's cards. Same for many other "Power" decks.

I would be interested in soemthing at Origins next year. There hasn't been a tourney there in a while, and I stopped going because of it, but I'm not interested in playing another format.

While the decks you listed are tops, there are certainly outliers that can win, and I just don't have the desire to learn another format. (I've never even heard of double barrel)

"LIVE" events are standard. Champion project cards legal at Organizer's decision. Its the online I'm concerned about standard format in.

Chad, you vollunteering to run origins?
